This massive red is one of Spain’s boldest expression of Tempranillo, offering aromas and flavors of candied violets, ripe blackberry, dried plum, anise, and earthy spice. Grapes are hand-picked from organically-grown, dry-farmed, ungrafted vines planted in 1900!! After sorting, destemming is done without crushing, and fermentation/maceration takes place in stainless steel for about a week before the wine is pressed and fermentation finishes in new French barriques. The wine ages for two years in barrique before bottling. Vatan is the biggest and purest representation of the oldest clone of Tempranillo in Spain, from some of the oldest ungrafted vines in the country, located in the only Spanish D.O. that completely resisted the phylloxera plague.
